The MCP Registry
Learn more about Illegal Agent's initiative to serve all MCPs from one unified interface.
The MCP DX sucks. Butt.
You want to set up a simple MCP Server for an application. You go to the official Model Context Protocol site. 80% of the MCP servers don't work. They're either dead, buggy, or a mix of both. You roll up your sleeves, open up Claude, and regurgitate the same code anyone with an IQ of a walnut could have.
While the idea behind MCP is solid, the execution is a trainwreck. We ran into this mess headfirst while integrating Mastra into our supported Agentic Frameworks. Instead of suffering in silence, we did what any sane developer would—scraped the internet, sifted through the garbage, and built a free, public API with a curated list of working MCPs. Now, at least someone's doing it right.
Usage
Using the Illegal Agents Platform (recommended)
The MCP Registry is built into the Illegal Agents platform, and is configurable with almost all Agent Frameworks which support it. To get started:
- Navigate to the Illegal Agents dashboard
- Click your profile picture in the top-right
- Select "Copy API Token"
- Open the Agent page for your Agent
- Click on the MCPs tab
- Browse and install MCPs from there.
Via public API
Check out the API Reference to learn how to use the MCP Registry programmatically.
